The BioMed Research Administration Office includes three teams: BioMed Shared Services, Pre-Award, and Post-Award.

The BMRA website has been created to serve as a valuable resource for the Division of Biology and Medicine faculty, students, and staff.

The BioMed Research Administration Office includes three teams: BioMed Shared Services, Pre-Award, and Post-Award. The Shared Services team provides support to investigators and staff across the Division, similarly to grants personnel within departments. The Pre-Award and Post-Award teams provide additional review to proposals, communication with external sponsors, and oversight of award execution and compliance; our Pre-Award has institutional signing authority. The Pre- and Post-Award teams closely partner with our colleagues in the Office of the Vice President for Research, and seek to ease the process of obtaining and spending external funding on research.

Pre-Award Management

The Pre-Award Team is responsible for the following:

  • Providing information on sources of support
  • Assisting principal investigators in identifying research funding opportunities
  • Providing advice & assistance for completing application form pages
  • Budget development
  • Assisting faculty in the submission of applications
  • Assuring compliance with the University and sponsors' policies and requirements
  • Interpreting regulations of federal agencies and private sponsors
  • Clarifying University policies and procedures for faculty and sponsors

Post-Award Management

The Post-Award Team is responsible for the following:

  • Overseeing the financial management of sponsored programs
  • Maintaining accounts and records
  • Preparing and submitting financial reports
  • Administering the expenditures of funds
  • Monitoring compliance with University and sponsor's financial provisions
  • Assisting in audit resolution

Shared Services

The BioMed Shared Services Office supports designated faculty in applying for sponsored programs and successfully executing sponsored awards. The Shared Services staff provide supplemental expertise and support in the areas of proposal preparation, responding to proposal review, and post‐award reporting for research-related sponsored programs based on service level agreements. The Shared Services staff will be an integral link between University’s Office of the Vice President for Research, Office of Sponsored Projects, and BioMed Research Administration to ensure holistic support to customers.
